Outreach is a process not an outcome. Our primary mission with outreach is to engage, build rapport, and support basic needs (food, clothing, shelter) while assisting with referrals/ linkages to eligible services. Without basic needs Mental Wellness cannot exist. Without safety all energy goes to defense. Once shelter and safety are achieved, past trauma might emerge where mental health and substance use connections are critical so that our clients might continue forward in improving their lives in some manner.
