Racial Disparities
Addressing racial disparities in the criminal justice system requires a multilayered approach, including legislative reforms, policy changes, and community-based solutions. Key areas of focus include studying criminal justice disparities, investing in education and employment, and evaluating ALL policies to determine unintended consequences and continuously reforming policy to steer desirable outcomes.
POLICY REFORMS:
Remove barriers to eligible benefits, employment, housing
Expand local diversion programs
INVEST in COMMUNITIES:
Invest in education: GED, college prep, and college enrolled programs
Invest in employment, vocational, and job placement
Invest in youth employment programs
Invest in community-driven "root" causes
Invest in intensive wrap around services so that housing works!
