New Wheels for a New Year

Two of our Sunflower House residents - one former and one current - have both achieved their goals of buying their own cars this month! And we couldn't be more proud.
Angelo, pictured here at right with his new-to-him, shiny grey Honda Accord, is a Sunflower House alumnae and now current staff member at OAR, working as a Peer Specialist.

Lamont, pictured at left here with his brand-new, vibrant red car direct from Maguire, works three jobs and currently resides in our Sunflower House while saving up for his own place.
This is a testament to the goal-focused transitional housing model that OAR operates. In contrast to other housing models, OAR practices a more rigorous goal-based selection process for its transition housing residents. Data shows that when residents are self-motivated to achieve, whether it be sobriety, employment, housing, relationships, health, or a combination of all, they are invested in the work required to get there. |
