After witnessing firsthand sexual exploitation and trafficking within Tompkins County, OAR hired Rachel Lloyd, who provided a three-day training educating (58) local professionals from (29) different County Departments and Community Based Organization.

Topics included how to understand and address demands, long-term prevention, motivational interviewing, trauma bonds, and developing a strengths-base for clients.

OAR diminished our reserves significantly to make this happen, but was compelled to do something to combat this horrible situation.

Learn more about Rachel and her organization, GEMS (Girls Educational and Mentoring Services, Inc.).

"Rescue can't be a plan for anyone's life... That's not a long term plan. It has to be about empowerment, about opportunity, about building on the inherent strengths that someone has." -- Rachel Lloyd, CMG
